How is the new education system going to help the kids right from when they start schooling?

The Union cabinet has made ‘early childhood care and education’ for kids aged 3-6 part of the school. It is one of the most innovative features of the new education policy.

The NEP has paved the way for the restructuring of the 10+2 arrangement in college education to a new pedagogical and curricular restructuring of 5+3+3+4 covering ages 3-18.

Children in the age group of 3-6 are not covered in the 10+2 arrangement as Class 1 begins at age 6.

SCHOOL EDUCATION UNDER NEW EDUCATION POLICY

The NEP has broken down the existing school education structure from 10+2 to 5+3+3+4. There will be no more than 10+2 structures. In 10+2, 10 represents ten years of primary and secondary education, and 2 means two years of higher secondary education.

Schools will follow the new 5+3+3+4 structure. However, does that mean students will need to spend 15 years in school, which they already do? In most of the urban areas, kids start their education by the age of 3 through playschools.

The new education system 2020 brings the playschools into the formal education ambit. It will drive the school structure based on the stages of development of children.

Therefore, for the first five years, children aged 3 to 8 years will enter the foundational stage. Since maximum brain growth happens at this age, the program will concentrate on learning actions, playing, and languages.

After five years of this, children will enter an interaction-based classroom and grade 3, in which the attention will change to discovery.

One point here is the medium of education. There was some confusion that courses in the language widespread in the region or the mother tongue would be taught strictly until grade 5. However, it is not entirely accurate.

According to the coverage, three languages are to be taught to all pupils. While states are permitted to decide which language to select, two languages need to be native to India.

When the students enter the 6th grade, they will evolve more in experimental subjects like science, math, arts, social sciences, and humanities. The interesting fact is they will also have to involve in a 10-day internship with local specialists.

Once they reach grade 9, they will be introduced to multidisciplinary studies to choose their desired subject. There will be no science, commerce, or arts. Students can choose physics with Sanskrit. Even courses and extracurricular activities will be given as much leverage. With so much modernization, there would be a need for the best school management app that can enhance the quality of education.

Amid all these modifications, something might need to be done about those career-defining assessments that make students tremble- board examinations. Regrettably, the coverage does not stop board exams. However, it does lower their importance and makes them more manageable.

COLLEGE EDUCATION

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will probably be charged with running (optional) entry examinations for admissions into higher educational institutes throughout the country.

Once selected to a college, students will enroll at a three or 4-year undergraduate level, with the option of leaving they need. If you complete one year, you will be awarded a certificate and completing two years will offer you a diploma.

If you complete three or four years (depending on the class), you will get a degree.

Another point to note here is the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC). An ABC will keep the academic credits by taking courses from various recognized higher education that students earn.

Numerous credits will be added to your lender at any time you complete a course. If you choose to change colleges, you can then transfer these credits. Moreover, even when you’re forced to drop out for some reason, these credits will stay intact. In NEP, you can pick up from where you left off, years later, as per your choice.

According to the policy, the universities will be multidisciplinary. Meaning, they will be expected to teach everything from science, arts, management, etc. under one roof. By 2040, the government attempts to phase out associations in favor of this model.

FINAL WORDS

After all, the education system 2020 seems very beneficial for the students as it focuses on the candidate’s overall development. It offers change, choice, and chance.  The new education system will help the kids right from when they start schooling and will bring a more bright future.
